THE TOP 5 WAYS TO MAINTAIN YOUR NISSAN

The "secret" to longevity and performance is that there isn't a secret. The difference is owner maintenance. Nothing in depth mind you, it is a Colorado Springs Nissan vehicle after all. For all your Nissan does for you, all it asks in return is regular fluid checks and scheduled lubrication to keep it going strong. Cleanliness and protecting the finishes inside and out will keep your Nissan looking and operating beautifully.
1. PATIENCE DURING THE 'BREAK-IN' PERIOD
You've bought your dream Nissan and enjoyed the friendly staff and great deal here at Colorado Springs Nissan. Now you can help us make it last as long as possible and in top condition. During the break-in period, typically the first 1,000 miles keep your speed under 55 mph or to the speed recommended by your models Nissan Owner's Manual (they can vary slightly). Initially avoid heavy loads on the drive train, such as towing trailers, and loading the roof rack or trunk with heavy materials or cargo.
Don't idle for long periods (this is solid advice for the entire life of your car), but especially during break-in. Why? The oil pressure generated during idle may not be sending oil to every part of your engine. Use only light to medium acceleration, keeping the engine rpms below 3,000 for the first few hours of driving, then you're good to go.
2. DRIVE WITH CARE EVERY DAY, SLOW AND STEADY GOES THE RACE
Drive with care every time and your car will reward you with longer intervals without repair. How so? Be gentle and use a steady attitude. Do not race your car's engine during start-up. Accelerate slowly when you begin your drive. The most wear to the engine and drive train occurs in the first ten to twenty minutes of operation. Avoid driving at high speeds and accelerating quickly, especially when it's very hot or very cold outside.
3. CAREFUL DRIVING ALSO EXTENDS THE LIFE OF YOUR TIRES
Good for you engine, brakes and tires - Observe posted speed limits. Avoid fast starts, stops, and turns. Avoid potholes and objects on the road. Careful parking (don't run over curbs or hit the tire against the curb when parking). And, of course, for tire treads' sake, don't burn rubber.
4. CONSOLIDATE YOUR SHORT DRIVING TRIPS
Most of the wear and tear - as well as the pollution your car generates - will take place in the first few minutes of driving. By doing several errands at once, during low traffic hours (if possible), will keep you and your Nissan's happy days, happier longer.
5. NISSAN INTERIOR CARE - AT COLORADO SPRINGS NISSAN WE KNOW YOUR NISSAN FITS YOUR LIFESTYLE
When taking your gear or other needed cargo, place a sheet of heavy plastic or towel first to prevent damage, and staining. To keep your interior like new and not inhibit your active lifestyle try placing a towel under baby seats. All manner of food bits and liquids can accumulate under a baby seat, where they can permanently stain the upholstery.
